Modular sports tiles are designed to be installed over rubber underlayment for added noise reduction and surface flexibility. Liquids and moisture always find their way through the seams of the tile down to the rubber underlayment. If liquids and moisture get trapped, the underlayment then becomes a perfect breeding ground for mold and mildew. Before long, the mildew will begin to rot the rubber mat underlayment compromising the surface integrity and producing a foul smelling odor. AERO FLEX engineers attacked this problem head on and constructed a gym sports tile with AIRFLOW. The concept of open supports and air slits ensures no trapped.
