Through a series of
self-assessments, you will identify areas of improvement and establish
a baseline for your training regimen. Then, incorporate functional
strength exercises designed for the movement patterns, muscle
contractions, and energy demands of a variety of sports. In addition,
learn to include nonstandard equipment exercises, using items such as
chains and tires, to complement your standard program with variable and
dynamic resistance training.
Sample training
programs may also be customized to your sport’s seasonal workout
schedule and position demands. Best of all, these programs and workouts
may be printed from the DVD, so you can take instruction directly into
the gym. Developed by Allen Hedrick, the head strength and conditioning

About the Author
Allen Hedrick, CSCS*D, is
the head strength and conditioning coach for the United States Air
Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He also has served as the
strength and conditioning coordinator for the United States Olympic
Training Center and assistant strength and conditioning coach at
California State University at Fresno. In these roles, Hedrick has
provided hands-on training for athletes in a variety of sports,
including field hockey, Greco-Roman wrestling, football, and speed
skating.
Hedrick has published more than 80 articles in various professional
journals, and he has presented at more than 25 conferences and clinics
on topics related to strength and conditioning. He is a certified
strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and
Conditioning Association (NSCA) and was selected as the 2003 Strength
and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the NSCA.
