Infield and Outfield
The sooner you begin using Head
Down Trainers, the easier it will be to train with them. Practice 10 minutes
a day for just one month—you’ll feel better and more confident about your
ability to field your position. You will be well on your way to having
what all great ball players have— the machine-like ability to see the ball
all the way into the glove on each and every play. This is a habit that
will stay with you for as long as you play ball—and help you avoid costly
errors in the field.
First Base and Catcher
Use the Head Down Trainers training
system to improve your “in–the-dirt” ball handling skills. In addition,
catchers can work on preventing low-and-away passed balls.
Batting
Head Down Trainers will improve
your batting average. Used during soft-toss drills or with a “T”, Head
Down Trainers will train you to keep your head and eyes down to concentrate
on the ball at impact. |
In using HeadDownTrainers,there are
many ways that an athlete may use the product for training in baseball.
All position players can benefit from training sessions with Head Down
Trainers, because the glasses let the player concentrate on the sense of
vision, so that the brain can send out correct motor impulses. This is
important in the many physical requirements demanded in the game of baseball.
The Catcher's Position is
a demanding defensive position that requires a great number of skills.
Head Down Trainers can be used in the 3 most fundamental tasks of the catcher
position:
1. Receiving: Using the glasses
in training drills for receiving the ball will help the catcher in tracking
and catching the various different movements of breaking balls, change
of speeds, and locations of particular pitches for utmost strike zone quality.
2. The Art of Framing: This
gives quality pitches a definite good look by the umpire for calling strikes.
Naturally, every pitcher would like to have optimum percentage of his pitches
called strikes.
3. Blocking Pitches: The most
important job of the catcher is blocking pitches in the dirt, thus preventing
the wild pitch or passed ball. How many games are decided by the "dreaded"
passed ball or wild pitch? Well, get that catcher working with Head DownTrainers
and see those passed ball numbers drop, no matter who your catcher is.

The Art of Fielding the Ground-Ball:
HDT will train you to watch the ball, and keep your head down. A player
who fields a ground-ball must bend his knees, and get his head and eyes
to stay on the ball. It is much easier to bring your glove-hand up, than
to try to take your body down. HDT ensures this basic action by using the
training glasses...."try it." Head Down Trainers reinforces the technique
of seeing the ball into the pocket of the glove. What more can you ask
for in learning the technique of fielding the baseball. Play fundamentally:
Both hands, out to in (see the ball) with glove hand down to up for sudden
bounces or bad hops. Practice with the HDT, to position the head and aid
in the visibility of both eyes.
The Art of Hitting: which
everyone likes to do, but is clearly the most difficult part of the game.
In teaching hitting, emphasis should be placed on seeing the ball. Ted
Williams, the greatest hitter in the game said, "Get a good ball to hit."
You must see the ball in order to be hitting the ball. The head must be
quiet in the swing; moving the head during the swing will limit a hitter's
visual ability. A quiet head assures the accuracy of vison. HDT will calm
the head or emphasize quiet eyes and help shoulder angle. Practice with
HDT to position the head and aid in the visibility of both eyes. Visualization
and visual training plays a large part in being a good hitter. Practice
seeing the release, the flight, and the spin and movement as much as possible.
Getting the strike zone under control can help a player become a good hitter.
Head Down Trainers will guarantee
less errors and less strikeouts.

"I have tested the Head Down Trainers
in my hitting and defensive clinics and private lesson practice across
the country. This tool without a doubt aids in the control of the head
movement and seeing the ball down in the zone.
Defensively, I think Head Down Trainers
are great. It is a fundamental of my training to make contact out in front.
The Head Down Trainer does exactly that. It is additional reinforcement
which I entertain any and all help to accomplish this part of the fielding
technique, especially at the younger development ages."

"One of the most important skills
a baseball player must learn is to focus on the baseball while hitting
or fielding. Mistakes and errors result from not maintaining eye contact
with the baseball right up to the moment contact is made when hitting or
not watching the ball into the glove while fielding Head Down Trainers
provides an easy to use device to help teach this invaluable skill to inexperienced
players or reinforce this skills for veteran players. We plan to use these
glasses on a daily basis during practice."

"The most important element for baseball
players at the youth level is to establish "good habits. The Head Down
Trainer forces the player to develop the habit of keeping the head down
and eyes focused on the ball when hitting. The player also develops the
habit of "hands out front" when fielding a ground ball and following the
ball into the glove. The Head Down Trainer simply helps the player to develop
good skills. Players enjoy wearing them and are more focused on practicing
their drills.
Our little league was fortunate enough
to use the Head Down Trainer as part of a fund raiser for our league. Instructors
came to our complex to give a clinic on hitting and fielding using the
Head Down Trainer. A portion of each players fee was given back to the
league. This was an excellent fund raiser and a great way to show players
the proper use of the Head Down Trainer. The Head Down Trainer is a must
for all baseball players, especially at the youth level."

"The concept of keeping your head
down on the ball has always been taught, but never before has there been
a visual training tool to ensure that athletes actually do it, until now.
Head Down Trainers will help to develop good technique for the younger
athlete, and reinforce good habits for the more experienced athlete. By
simply putting on a pair of Head Down Trainers you can make drills that
were once boring and monotonous fun again."

"I have found the Head Down Trainers
to be an innovation and invaluable tool in helping young hitters track
the ball. What has been very interesting is that the Head Down Trainers
have not only helped my students track the ball but they have significantly
improved the their ability to minimize head movement and in turn greatly
increasing their balance. Great hitters always have excellent ability to
track the ball and exceptional balance. I would highly recommend the Head
Down Trainers to anyone who is serious about becoming an outstanding hitter."
