About the Author Jerry Krause has been coaching the basics of basketball since 1959. His experience at the elementary, high school, college, and Olympic levels uniquely qualifies him to write a book that helps to improve the skills of players at all levels of play. Krause is a professor of sport philosophy and the director of instruction for West Point U.S. Military Academy’s Department of Physical Education. He received the 1988 State Honor Award from the Washington Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance for outstanding teaching and coaching in college physical education. A member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), Krause is the chair of their National Research Committee and wrote the 1986 Code of Ethics. Krause received the 1998 NABC Appreciation Award for lifetime contributions to basketball. He is also a member and past president of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Basketball Coaches Association. Krause is also the author of the popular, The Basketball Bible and the Basketball Resource Guide, as well as nine other basketball coaching books and 18 basketball teaching videos. Don Meyer has reached unprecedented heights in his first 23 seasons as head men’s basketball coach at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He reached the 600-win plateau faster than any other coach in college basketball history. Named the National Coach of the Year in 1989 and 1990, Meyer was inducted to the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1993. He resides in Nashville.
